I really enjoy spreadable mettwurst on a crusty breakfast roll with just some raw onion on top, this is very popular in Hamburg and it is delicious!
There was a restaurant in Münster that sold westfälische Art Grünkohl mit Mettwurst (Eng - kale with mettwurst in the Westphalian style) and it was absolutely wonderful. This was in the 80's and I hope that restaurant is still serving proper traditional German food. Oh boy could I just eat that right now!
